Evaluating Information
Research of value must be based on information that is valid, accurate, useful,
and which comes from reliable, trustworthy and expert sources.
In order to have this type of information we need to sift through the vast sea of books, library e-databases and the World Wide Web.
To sift means to evaluate the information we harvested according to set standards before it is deemd acceptable.
One widely used evaluation criteria for information is the
CRAAP Evaluation Criteria
created by the Meriam Library, California State University at Chico.
